Chapter 526) More Than A Lover

Henford-on-Bagley
Kyranmore Abbey
Duncan-Kershaw wedding

The groom, Jack Kershaw, had nervously made his way down the aisle, being comforted by his best man Connor and his groomsman Jackson, Jack’s now 19-year-old son. Opposite them as bridesmaids served Izzy’s mom Mary Duncan and Jackson’s girlfriend Taylor McCoy. The wedding and following reception had purposely been kept small and intimate.

Next time Jack and Izzy could get away, they would celebrate with Jack’s old friends back in Chestnut Ridge, which would most likely involve a few days in San Sequoia staying at Connor’s place, as he and Keira would most definitely be throwing another party in their honor again as well. Maybe as part of a small honeymoon, nothing had officially been planned as it wasn’t the best time to leave the stables in the hand of the other workers right now.

When the wedding march started playing and Cyrus Duncan walked his daughter Isobel, Izzy, down the aisle, Jack couldn’t stop smiling.

Even before they had ever met him in person for the first time Izzy’s parents had already adored the former rancher, based on the way their daughter spoke about him, the official meet-the-parents had felt more like a welcome home to Jack and it’s been that way ever since. They would often go have dinner at the Duncan farm, even stay an entire weekend, tend to the farm business together, enjoy delicious meals and fun talks, going fishing for dinner. Jack addressed Izzy’s parents as ‘mum’ and ‘dad’ and her 17-year-old brother Callum looked up to Jack, all had long considered him a member of their family, so Cyrus had only warm words for Jack as he officially gave him his daughter’s hand to have and to hold.

His Royal Majesty King Maximilian himself bestowed the great honor upon the bridal couple to officiate for them, normally a rare courtesy reserved only for aristocracy, which Jack and Isobel clearly were not, making this an extra special day nobody would ever forget.

In the audience were Her Royal Majesty Queen Aria Grace with her children Crown Prince William, and Princesses Victoria and Vivienne, Connor’s wife Keira and their toddler son Chris, Connor’s parents Chase and Hailey with their 17-year-old-twin daughters Briar Rose and Iris Marie, their respective boyfriends Brad and Sterling, further Maddie and Colton with Jasper and his girlfriend Oakley and naturally the bride’s father Cyrus and younger brother Callum.
Of course, Bri’s and Jackson’s eyes kept meeting while Jack was marrying his beloved Izzy, luckily most guests were too engulfed in the beautiful ceremony to notice.

Cromwell Palace
Wedding Reception celebration, immediately following the ceremony

Later, during the reception, which had been put on by the royal house of Cromwell in the royal grand ballroom of their palace for them, romantic country music tunes were playing, as the newlyweds were moving back and forth across the dancefloor. They looked so happy, swaying to the song that so accurately described their relationship, which is why it was chosen as their wedding song.

You’re more than a lover
There could never be another
To make me feel the way you do
Oh we just get closer
I fall in love all over
Every time I look at you
I don’t know where I’d be
Without you here with me
Life with you makes perfect sense
You’re my best friend.”

Other couples had joined them on the dancefloor, Connor and Keira, Chase and Hailey, the bride’s parents Cyrus and Mary, but also Jackson and Taylor, Iris Marie with Sterling, Jasper with his girlfriend and Briar Rose with Brad. Bri and Jackson kept staring at each other across their partners’ shoulders at every twirl.

Even the royal couple attended the festivities for a while, but the queen had been suffering a mysterious stomach illness on and off for a few weeks now, so they eventually excused themselves quietly to their private quarters. Jack and Izzy knew the truth, but the happy news had not been made official yet, so for now, officially, it was just a pesky, recurring stomach bug temporarily plaguing the beloved queen. At least until the press statement announcing the impending arrival of a new member of the royal family would be released, probably in the next month.

The festivities and even the lyrics of the song clearly were doing something to Bri, she had been quiet and withdrawn ever since she wanted to quit dancing, quietly observing from one of the tables instead, letting Brad enjoy himself, since even for a young man born into so much privilege as him, having been invited to spend a few nights at a royal palace to attend a wedding was exciting and more than special. Bri looked sad, but nobody really noticed it, many people got emotional at weddings, everyone was uber-happy for the newlyweds and didn’t pay much attention.

Connor’s head snapped around when out of his peripheral vision he saw his little sister stumbling, trying to hold on to the back of one of the chairs, missing and starting to collapse.

“Oh shit! BRI!” Connor handed his champagne flute to Keira and used his vampire speed to run over barely catching his now unconscious sister before her head hit the marble floor, just as their parents arrived as well, who let their son, the doctor, have a first look. He pat Bri’s cheeks till her eyelids finally fluttered open, then closed again, while she mumbled something mostly incoherent.
Connor brought his face near hers for a moment, frowned, as he looked up at his parents.

“Shit! Dad, help me get her somewhere where she can lay down in private, maybe your and mom’s room. Mom, let Jack know everything’s okay and I’ll come find him as soon as I can, tell Keira to keep everyone out of our hair, she’ll know what to do, God knows we had enough practice of late, and if anyone asks, just tell them she hasn’t eaten and fainted or something. I’ll come get you later if you wanna sit with her. Ah, and someone tell Brad … ummm … something, but don’t let him to her! Iris too.” Connor rose up with his barely conscious sister in his arms.

“What’s really wrong with her?” Chase asked panicked, Hailey staring at Connor too.

“She is DRUNK! Yeah, your precious little underaged princess somehow managed to drink herself into oblivion unnoticed at my best friend’s wedding at AG’s goddamn palace! I need to get her to privacy and away from prying eyes, then make sure my initial impression is correct and her intox level isn’t bordering dangerous, I don’t think it is, but better safe than sorry. Don’t you two worry, I am just being overly cautious, pretty sure this is just another dumb Bri-thing she can sleep off. Either way, she’ll be out of commission for the rest of the day and will probably spend the night hugging the toilet bowl – and that is best case scenario. Mom, keep Iris away from us and Brad occupied somehow, just feed him some fluffy bullshit about girly ailments, he really doesn’t need to see all this. Bri can figure out how to explain this shit to him herself when she’s better. Oh, and have someone send a ton of water up to the room, we need to keep her hydrated.” Connor told them.

the next day

Jackson leaned up against the inside wall of an empty stall, sighing deeply, when he heard steps and could feel her presence, smell her perfume before seeing her.

He turned around to face her, seeing her leaning up against the other side of the stall wall, but she spoke up

“No! Stay there, turn around. Don’t look. Face the other way!”

“What? Why? Am I really THAT ugly to ya?!” he said, while obliging.

“No, of course not. It’s because I am not supposed to be alone with you. If I can’t see you, technically I don’t know it’s you. Could be anybody.”

“Urgh. That must be the infamous Bri-logic Connor always complains about. It does hurt my brain too. Your parents’ rule?”

“Brad’s. And understandable, all things considered.” Bri sighed.

“Jeeze. Hey, what happened to you yesterday? Got me worried. We were told you fainted cos you forgot to eat. Are you doing one of those idiotic Del Sol Valley diets you rich girls are famous for?”

“No, that’s just the official version. Truth is I got drunk. Totally trashed evidently, of course that wasn’t intentional. Guess I am not Cameron enough to hold my liquor too well, you should see some of the Cameron men throw them back like water when they get to drinking together, and afterwards, they are just a little sillier and a lot more relaxed. That was my idea, wanted to take the edge off. At first it was just bitter and did nothing, then it went straight from fuzzy to horizontal and TKO. Yikes.”

“Why in the world would you feel the need to get drunk at my dad’s wedding? I thought it was a very nice day. Everything was just perfect, and I am so glad to see my dad so happy. Izzy is great, and they are great together. Not to mention the party at the palace. I don’t see how anyone would wanna drink THAT away.”

“I didn’t, I am happy for them too, I don’t know, just got me all emotional, I loved that song they picked, was so perfect for them, and I don’t even like County music … but that one just made me think of you … gawd. I missed you Jackson, and you didn’t even come to my birthday, I waited for you to come in through the door yelling ‘surprise’ the entire day, but you didn’t show up. Just felt like you totally forgot I even existed. Like you didn’t care about me at all anymore. I thought staying away from you would make it easier, but it only kept getting worse. And then there you finally were, at your daddy’s wedding, looking unbelievably handsome in that suit, never seen you like that, I couldn’t take my eyes off you, but you were with Taylor, I didn’t even get a chance to speak with you for one single measly second, couldn’t say anything I needed you to hear, the feelings got too much for me, I just thought I needed a drink. Popped another cherry in your honor. Never had booze before and considering how miserable I was, I probably never will again, plus it didn’t work anyway. Thought I was gonna die yesterday I was sooooo sick. Luckily Connor had some magic tricks up his sleeves, or I would still not be upright by now.”

“You thinking I forgot about ya is kinda ironic comin’ from the girl who fed me to the wolves when I called ya to tell you about Prairie Rose.”

“I did no such thing! And who?”

“Prairie Rose, the filly, I sent you the pic when you were in Tartosa with your boyfriend. And you totally did when you gave the phone to Brad. Seriously, Bri. That was low! You didn’t wanna talk to me, fine. But that … just no! That just wasn’t cool.”

“I know, I know. And I am sorry. Jasper already yelled at me for that, at the time I didn’t realize what I was doing, Brad was right there when you called, looking at my phone, and I panicked. I am sorry.”

“Yeah, it’s okay, figured. Was pretty miffed at ya for a while, but came to the conclusion you were cornered and had no choice. I know you’re not vindictive, so it had to be some kneejerk thing. Yeah, I named the filly in honor of another Rose, one so beautiful and sweet, even though I keep getting pricked by her thorns every time, I keep going back for more, can’t seem to get enough, against better knowledge. For a second, I thought your grandpa was gonna make the connection when he dropped Stryker off with me and kept drawing parallels to names in your family, including his wife and yours. Guess he just likes animals. And he’s a talker. For the record, I didn’t forget your birthday, and was tempted when Connor asked me to come, but I just couldn’t. For one there is Stryker, he can’t sit through an entire party yet, but there are so many reasons I just couldn’t see myself at yer fancy home in Brindleton Bay, even though I will admit I am pretty curious about how ya live. So, sorry I missed it and sorry you waited in vain for me. Then again, I did tell Connor very clearly that I wasn’t gonna come, not to mention, you missed my birthday too.”

“Oh no, really?! I don’t even know when your birthday is, had no idea our birthdays are so close to each other! Well, belated congratulations. And I didn’t mean to make you feel guilty for not coming, I get why, just me being selfish wanting to see you so badly. You named the filly after me?! That is sooooo sweet!” Bri peeked through the bars at Jackson, who nodded, but said nothing.

“I want to meet her! Your filly!” Bri said.

“Ya know where to find me and you wouldn’t be alone with me, considering Stryker is there. Maybe he could be your excuse. You saved the man’s life, so tell them you wanna hang with him, see how he’s doin’. He falls asleep a lot, so you wouldn’t have to deal with him for long.”

“I wish people would quit saying that. I wasn’t a hero, I didn’t save anyone, all I did was yell into my phone at my dad for help, while shitting my pants, thinking Stryker just died in my arms. My dad’s the real hero here, he just knew what to do while I had to remind myself to even breathe. Where is Stryker? Is he here too? Haven’t seen him.” Bri admitted.

“Nah, too much action for him to handle. Connor picked him up before we came here, took him to some guy named Rohan, Connor said he’s also a doctor and the one who treated Stryker after his collapse. I heard Sophie was considering visiting him at Rohan’s, so Stryker was more than eager to go.”

“Oh yeah, I know Rohan. He’s also the dad to one of Sophie’s nieces, Aryelle, who’s a freshman in med school. They know each other well, so yeah, Sophie is DEFINITELY going to see Stryker. That woman is CRAZY about that asshole. Still. I mean, I like Stryker, but the shit he’s pulled over the years …? We all thought this time he had done it, and Sophie was done with him, but seeing how she coddled him after he almost kicked the bucket, nah, watch for it, I predict she’s gonna forgive him, like she always does. This wasn’t the first time, but definitely the worst from what I remember. We girls REALLY do the craziest shit when we love a guy. Ugh!”

“Well, us men aren’t much better. The crap we do and endure for love isn’t funny anymore. But I swear Connor said that Rohan guy was married to a dude, so how does he have a kid with one of Sophie’s sisters?”

“Oh yeah, that’s another Cameron-grade story. Rohan’s gay, but has three kids, all homemade by him. He and Sophie’s oldest sister Esmée cannot stand each other, but somehow were … well … fuck buddies for lack of better term, in their last year of college and somehow Aryelle happened – and Esmée HATES kids – period, so Rohan did the single dad thing with the help of another cousin of mine and his wife, AG’s big brother actually. For a while Rohan also dated Aria-Grace, they were even engaged, twice, long before she was royal and long before Max, but he was actually the guy AG was getting over when she first met Max, Rohan had finally figured out he wasn’t hetero and just about broke AG’s heart, everyone was shocked, they were like a dream couple. Rohan is a sweetheart; everyone likes him, he just didn’t realize he was gay until later. He raised Aryelle, is now on his second marriage, raising two teen boys with his husband, through surrogates obviously, but his kids are mellow as can be, no drama ever. So, now you know how all that fits together. Welcome to the Cameron family. If you are looking for normal, keep walking.” Bri giggled.

“So, not all Cameron kids are Bris, huh? You just can’t stop with the drama, can ya?” Jackson chuckled.

“You are comparing apples and oranges here though. For one, Rohan’s kids aren’t all Camerons, they are Sharmas, only Aryelle is a Cameron and she has always been such a goodie-two-shoes, it’s sickening. No drama ever, just excellent grades and perfection, yes daddy, no daddy – puke! And yeah, drama just seems to find me. I do something, next thing I know I am buried beneath an avalanche of crap that just happened somehow. If it was at least intentional, but it really never is. Run away with me, Jackson. Please. Right now. Let’s go somewhere. Anywhere. Just you and me, for a little while. Make it your belated birthday present to me and mine to you.” Bri turned to face Jackson through the metal bars of the stall.

Jackson looked around, then smiled and nodded, opened the stall door, stepping through it he gently rubbed Bri’s chin with two fingers while closing the stall door behind himself with the other.

“Wait here, I’ll be right back. Dontcha go anywhere, darlin’.” he winked and left.

Bri’s eyes glazed over, watching him hurry away, as she leaned back against the stable wall, sighing.

“He called me darling. No, he said ‘darlin’. Darrrrrrlin’…. hmmmm.” she moaned, trying to imitate his drawl, smiling as she drifted off into some happy lala-land.

Bri allowed herself to be engulfed in the feeling it had left her with, until she heard Jackson call her name quietly.

She went outside to find Jackson with a saddled horse, and another one tied up to a tree nearby, both white and gorgeous.

“They’re Cromwell horses, tall, couldn’t find a mountin’ block for ya, can you get on like this? Or do ya need help?” Jackson asked.

“I can make it, I can get onto those huge Clydesdales now just fine without something to step on. No wait … actually, I think I do need help. DEFINITELY need your help …” she gave him a come-and-get-me smile, he smirked too and grabbed her hips lifting her up in the air, leaving her tingly all over.

Once mounted, they immediately trotted off away from the palace, once the horses were warm, they rode off faster and faster, into a canter, which became a gallop, as they were chasing each other on horseback across the lush rolling hills of the Henfordian countryside. Both letting out happy cheers, underlining the feeling of freedom and fun they both now felt.

Lying next to each other in the tall, juicy grass, which the two horses were enjoying as a welcomed snack nearby, Bri’s hand found Jackson’s, playing with the tips of his fingers, until he grabbed her hand, brought it up to his lips and kissed it. Bri rolled over on her stomach and kissed him on the nose, an almost innocent, sweet gesture that clearly had an effect on the young man, he closed his eyes and let out a deep sigh.

“Oh Bri, what are you doin’ to me, girl?”

“Straight back at you. Here’s some TMI for you, Jackson. I hated seeing you walk down the aisle with Taylor. Hate, hate, HATED it. I swear that tore my heart out, felt like it was you and her getting married not your dad and Izzy. Just FYI, if you do ever end up marrying her, don’t you dare invite me. I’d literally die right there at your wedding. Probably even on purpose. That would be the only reason I’d even attend, just to die right there in front of everyone of a broken heart and jealousy and ruin everything for her.” Briar Rose ranted.

“Jeeze girl, chill out, you’re startin’ to sound a lil psycho there. I am in no hurry to get hitched anytime soon and if it makes ya feel better, I wasn’t exactly thrivin’ watchin’ Hedgefund-Brad kiss around on ya all goddamn afternoon. I know some of that was posturin’ because of me, but your lips gotta be raw now from him sucking around on them all damn day, while he grew a couple more arms to wrap around ya from every angle! Holy cow! That guy’s hotter for ya than two mice fuckin’ in a wool sock! Surprised your daddy hasn’t set that guy straight yet, he musta seen it too. What are you feeding that dude? Nothing but oysters? Viagra by the handful?”

“Nope, I am just THAT irresistible ….” Bri giggled.

Jackson pulled her closer and rolled them around, him now on top of her.

“Tell me about it.” he said in a different, huskier voice, and their kissing changed from innocent affection to heated and steamy.

Cromwell Stables - Kershaw apartments
Later that same afternoon

Lined up next to each other on the couch of Jack and Izzy’s home, located above the Cromwell Stables, Jack standing before them, glaring at Bri and Jackson, arms crossed, Connor behind him, quietly, letting his best friend handle the situation as it happened on his turf.

“What were ya thinkin’!? Were ya two nitwits even thinkin’ at all?!” Jack roared, gesturing wildly, his tone and mimic leaving no doubt he was more than angry.

“Sorry dad, it’s all my fault, I just wanted to show Bri the waterfall you showed me last time … it’s not her fault, this is on me.” Jackson tried.

“Zip it, son! That question was rhetorical, I KNOW you two weren’t thinking AT ALL! I don’t care what ya both wanted, not even gonna touch on the mystery why you wanted to show Bri the waterfall and not your own girlfriend, but fact is, whatcha did is you took two royal horses without permission, which is the same level of illegal as grand theft auto over here! I take care of the horses, but they are not mine, you can’t just take them, and you being my kid means nothing in the court of law here if it comes to royal property. Do you even have a grasp on how expensive those horses are?! Not to mention these particular two are invaluable, as they are AG’s horses by Kismet and Bold Pleasure, very special and dear to her!!! I usually guard those with my LIFE! Had you been caught by someone else, a very real possibility, considering everything is crawling with royal guards and Barrett security personnel, my job as the Royal Equerry would have been to bring this to justice, I would have had to call the police and hand you both over, and I couldn’t have saved ya! Since LUCKILY it was me who caught ya trying to sneak back in like two mounted cat burglars, I obviously won’t have it prosecuted, which is also against the law, but I really do not want to visit my own son in jail, as much as I would love to have ya closer to me, kid, but not like THAT! Seriously! Bri can’t know the magnitude of wrong what you both did was, but YOU should, Jackson, I told you that last time you visited me. You can ride a horse I choose, since I know them all, AFTER I get the proper authorization, which is all but one quick phone call to the palace! How is that so hard?! Also, Taylor has been turnin’ over every single rock wonderin’ where you disappeared to, so you better start heading her way. Thinkin’ yer boyfriend might be wondering too, Bri. Guessin’ whatever you did wherever you went off to will be hard to explain, as a personal favor to me AG has been so gracious to keep the visitors distracted, but by now she has to be running out of random shit to show them – so ya’ll need to go fix this in a hurry! I have half a mind to put both of you on stall cleaning duty until you have to leave for the airport tomorrow morning! So next time either one of ya wants to go ride out, ya come to me first, and I promise I will get ya set up. NEVER JUST TAKE ANY HORSES – ALWAYS ASK ME FIRST!” Jack’s deep voice echoed off the walls.

“Yes Sir. And sorry, dad.” Jackson said, his head hung low.

“I am sorry too, Jack.” added Bri.

“Well, since Jack is done, it’s now my turn. Briar Rose, once you get home you will be grounded again, obviously, for getting wasted at my best friend’s wedding, and you best believe that I will tell mom and dad about this nugget when we get home so expect the punishment for that to get tacked on to whatever you were gonna get from them anyway. Upgrading your car stealing hobby to highly prized horses doesn’t give me the warm and fuzzies, nor does the fact that your reckless BS could have potentially gotten Jack into serious trouble, if not fired – and all that bullshit on the day after his wedding! It was reckless and inconsiderate on so many levels, not to mention that this is not the first time you two go off the grid for hours and come back with no waterproof explanation, so this seems to be turning into something habitual, and I won’t stand for it. I am not gonna meddle into other people’s relationships, not even yours, that’s up to our parents, but I do remember being your age and all the curiosity that came with it, so I am just going to ask: is there anything I should be concerned about here from a medical standpoint?” Connor ranted.

Bri shook her head.

“Are you sure? I do not want to hear about some shocking surprise news in a few weeks from now, when things that should happen to you monthly just don’t happen for a while, if you catch my drift. If not, I can be a lot more direct here! I can even draw you fun little pictures and diagrams of what we might be looking forward to soon!” Connor rumbled at his sister.

“CONNOR, oh my God, what the fuck?! You didn’t seriously just ask me what I think you are asking?! Do you have some wires crossed or something?!” Briar Rose’s eyes nearly came from their sockets as she stared horrified at her older brother, blushing into the deepest shades of red known to man, and even Jackson’s head turned bright red.

“Oh, I asked exactly that, and your reaction tells me I struck gold, not to mention what looked like a freshly fucked flush on both your smug visages when Jack dragged you up here, but I gave you two the benefit of a doubt then! Not anymore! Do you think Jack and I were born yesterday?! I had no illusions of you or your sister still being pristine as freshly driven snow, and am sure neither do mom and dad, but I was under the impression that you’d follow the same monogamous idea as the rest of us. Not my place to judge your morals, I’ll leave that to mom and dad, but I will say that if you got yourself knocked up at 17 and by a guy who is not even your boyfriend while you do actually have a boyfriend, I will publicly humiliate you any chance I get, you can bank on that, Bri! I get love and passion and birth control failures, but not the whoring around thing! Mom, dad and I have your dumbassery and antics up to HERE! And BOTH of you, sort this shit out, or did you BOTH develop cases of transient global amnesia and forgot you had partners growing mold over here, since you left them waiting and wondering, while you two rode off into the horizon to swipe right on each other for an afternoon? I can’t believe you two made Jack and me unwillingly part of this shitshow now! I came here to celebrate the happiest day of my best friend’s life with him, not to put out one dumpster fire after the next, all started by my little sister!” Connor roared.

“Connor, please … none of this is her fault. We were always careful … I … am to blame …. I am the older and shoulda known better. And I am sorry, I wasn’t thinkin’ … this is on me. Don’t tell ‘er parents, please, and don’t be mad at her. Be angry with me, punch me if that makes ya feel better.” Jackson pleaded.

“You are Jack’s problem, luckily, since clearly I have my hands plenty full with my sister. If he wants to put you on shit shoveling duty till tonight, fine by me, and I would not mind Bri joining you for the humiliation alone, except for the fact that I have a feeling unless one of us watched you every single second, you two wouldn’t get much done except each other! As much as I think your gallantry and chivalry is adorable, kiddo, you can’t save Bri now. I know my sister. I definitely got her number. I love the idea of being the cool big brother, even I have my limits and those have now been reached! And if you two haven’t caught on, a LOT of things you two have been getting away with just started making a LOT more sense to me, seeing it all in a different light, and I do not like it one bit. That time I drove you to him, supposedly to apologize and you two were unreachable and both lost your phones suddenly got an even worse aftertaste than it already had! Or that humiliating WTF moment that one day when our friend and neighbor Chelsea called, asking Keira and me if we remembered to change the sheets since we apparently had some sexy time in her house, can’t blame her for guessing that, considering we were housesitting for her and she found used condom wrappers – PLURAL! – after she got home … when Keke and I didn’t even have that key, YOU did, Bri! And to think I was the one delivering the cat to the sparrow, yeah, no question in my mind who was the driving force behind all this, as we already know Bri tried to get into Jackson’s pants once before, unsuccessful then, but clearly, somewhere between then and now he got weak! Mom and dad are gonna just love that story, and will be bursting for pride that I was involved in all of it, unknowingly and definititely not willingly, but you made me part of it, nonetheless. And now I finally realize why always composed and mellow Brad lost his shit that one time at my place! That boy caught on before I did! So much for me being a genius. Evidently not when it comes to family!” Connor ranted.

“Ummm …. Connor …. I think that memo was lost in the mail and I am little lost and confused here. Bri did what? Are you saying my boy and your sister …. hang on just a minute here! But he has that beautiful girlfriend so how … why … what?!” Jack’s eyes widened.

“Oh Jack, I’ll get you caught up later, on things I know and some things I think I now know, but we’re gonna need some drinks for that and I need you to be sitting down, old man or I’ll be reanimating your ticker while Izzy kicks my ass for telling you this bullshit making you flatline! But first I need to give my parents a headstart on getting my little sister fitted for a CHASTITY BELT, if she even needs it, thinking she’ll be grounded till she is 35 anyway and the only way she’ll be leaving the house from now on will be if mom or dad are holding her hand! I said it before, and I’ll say it again, I was NEVER like that! I was the easy kid!”

Whoa, Connor pulled no punches when dealing with his little sister! Now that Connor (and soon Jack) know what they’ve been up to, the 💩 is about to hit the fan for Bri big time. Bri clearly isn’t over Jackson but I don’t think it’s just forbidden fruit anymore. They definitely have feelings for each other. Brad’s gonna know and he may not forgive her. Jackson might lose Taylor as well. She’s not gonna put up with more unfaithfulness from him. I just don’t see how Bri and Jackson could ever make it work. They are like AG and Jack were, from two different worlds. Bri is still young and Jackson is older than his years which makes him more attractive to her than Brad. Jackson having those feelings though is tough. He really does care about Bri and when she is around, his resistance flies out the window. Their plans for her to pretend to visit Stryker will not fly with anyone now. Bri does need to grow up more. Sorry my thoughts were all over the place.

By the way, the wedding was beautiful! And the pictures great!

Yeah, you got all that right, hitting the nail on the head, but things will play out a lot differently than ANYONE will expect over the next few chapters.
Bri isn’t joking, she really is a drama magnet, and usually, if not always, unintentionally so. The brown stuff is gonna blow in a big way, but not like anyone could have imagined. Unfortunately, that will take several chapters to fully grasp the magnitude of the avalanche about to bury them all.
Whatever it is between Bri and Jackson, it looks like it’s very real and well past that puppy love Connor always suspected.
One can’t help feel sorry for Brad and Taylor, while Taylor already is a lot less forgiving and a lot more annoyed by Bri’s interferences, she has been very patient with Jackson too. Unlike Brad, she doesn’t know for a fact what is going on, just suspicions. And Jackson would be wise to deal with that one way or another, considering he lives in a small and tight knit community. As we found out in a past chapter, his best friend Chayton doesn’t seem to like Bri much.
